The Policyholder can give written notice of cancellation. A Policyholder has the right to cancel a policy within 31 (thirty-one) days after the receipt of the Policy Summary. This is known as the Cooling Off Period. Please notify Emerald Life (Pty) Ltd in writing of your cancellation. Any premium that has been paid within the Cooling Off Period will be refunded, and your Policy will be cancelled. (Please ensure that you retain a copy of this document.) If a cancellation notice reaches Emerald Life (Pty) Ltd after the Cooling Off Period, the Policy will end at the end of the month in which it is received and the Policyholder and the Insurer will be bound by the Terms and Conditions of the Policy until the Policy is cancelled. The Policy will come to an end when the insured event occurs and Emerald Life (Pty) Ltd has fulfilled all contractual duties under the terms and conditions of the Policy. A grace period of 31 (thirty-one) days is allowed for the payment of a missed premium. If payment of an outstanding premium is not made within the grace period, the Policy will lapse. The Insurer may also cancel this Policy by providing 31 (thirty-one) days’ notice to the Policyholder at the last known recorded address on system.
