It means an unexpected death caused by a sudden, uncertain and fortuitous event which happens at an identifiable time and place, independent of any other cause. This does not include sickness or disease or any naturally occurring condition or degenerative process. Self-inflicted injuries and suicides are excluded from this definition. Accidental has a corresponding meaning.
